What is MBSR Anyways?
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program incorporates mindfulness to assist people with pain, anxiety, and a range of conditions and life issues. Yup, it pretty much covers it all!
MBSR was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre in the 1970s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSR uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga to help people become more mindful in their daily life.
MBSR has become a recognized medical intervention that inspires continuing research, and influences other treatment programs around the world. Mindfulness has many beneficial effects including stress reduction, relaxation, and improvements to quality of life.
The MBSR program complements and supports conventional medical care. Participants learn how to utilize their inner resources for coping and healing, especially for dealing with symptoms of chronic illness, and symptoms that no longer respond to standard medical treatment. Mindfulness practice helps people promote their own health by reducing the effects of stress in mind and body.

Going through this program personally, allowed me to fully experience the benefits. I already have a daily meditation practice, but I was able to see shifts in my mindset and overall level of peacefulness. I can't speak highly enough about this program.
The MBSR Program runs for 8 weeks. Classes are held once a week for 2.5 hours. (Private sessions 1.5 hours)
There is an initial orientation that allows time to complete forms, discuss reasons for attending, concerns and questions. Participants receive a binder of information and exercises and can download MP3 meditation tracks for home practice.
This program takes commitment! (This will be further discussed during the orientation). You must be ready to commit to 8 weeks of daily mindfulness. You will be practicing mindfulness for about 1 hour per day through the duration of the program.
